At the Manor Academy we believe in an inclusive curriculum where students are able to experience all subjects in mixed ability classes. We strive to provide excellent specialist teaching for students with SEND through the sharing of student information to all staff, identifying barriers to learning and sharing positive strategies for supporting that student in lessons. All teaching staff have access to extensive information and support materials enabling them to personalise learning and to differentiate effectively. Alongside this, our CPD programme delivers regular information and support for various Special Educational Needs.

The Academy has a huge array of experience, knowledge and expertise in the area of Special Educational Needs. The Development Team, consisting of the Academy SENCo and two Higher Level Learning Assistants has a large amount of knowledge and experience in this area, coupled with a development programme which allows them to attend several courses a year giving them up to date knowledge of areas of SEND which they are able to share with the rest of the teaching staff at the Academy. Adding to this we have a large team of Learning Assistants with experience and knowledge of working with students with SEND who support in lessons across the Academy in all strands. Finally, teachers are skilled and equipped to deliver differentiated lessons to enable all students to access work, to enjoy their learning and to make progress.

There are various facilities available to SEND students at the Manor Academy. The Development Team has a dedicated classroom specifically for their use enabling specialist work in small groups and on a one-to-one basis. We are also blessed with a large library of up-to-date resources and books for work in this area. The Development Team has a large amount of laptops and netbooks which allows student in that area to have access to up-to-date resources and electronic resources. We also invest in everyday resources to help SEND students with specific needs. We have been able to accommodate students with physical disabilities as we have the rooms on site to allow for the provision of specialist support and facilities.
