Hair and Beauty

Overview

This course is for anyone wishing to enter the hairdressing or beauty industries

The Course units include:

Follow health and safety in the salon, client care and consultation in beauty-related industries, client consultation for hair services, the art of dressing hair, shampoo and condition the hair & scalp, cutting hair, colour and lighten, providing manicure treatment, eyelash and eyebrow treatments and nail art, the art of photographic make-up

The course is assessed through practical assessments and the theory by tests. There are written assignments to complete, for hairdressing and for beauty therapy

City and Guilds

Year 9

In Year 9 students that choose hair and beauty will be given a mixture of practical and theory which will then enable them to have an increased awareness of the subject prior to starting the Level 2 qualification in Year 10. Students will become confident in working in the salon in both hair and beauty.

Year 10 & 11

In Years 10 & 11 students will complete both the external and internal assessments for the Level 2 qualification. This will include both written assignments and practical tasks.

Facilities and resources

Students will be working in both a classroom and the salon. In the salon they will have the opportunity to simulate a work place environment.
