GCSE

We have chosen WJEC EDUQAS GCSE (9-1) Religious Studies route A. Students will be challenged with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling them to develop their own attitudes towards religious issues. Students will also gain an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. They will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to work with abstract ideas. All these skills will help prepare them for further study.

Year 9:

Christianity

Students will study Christianity in depth focusing on two main topics:

  • Beliefs and teachings
  • practices

Year 10:

Islam

Students will study Islam in depth focusing on two main topics:

  • Beliefs and teachings
  • practices

Year 11:

Issues

Students will study religious, philosophical and ethical studies in the modern world focusing on four main topics:

  • Issues of relationships
  • Issues of life and death
  • Issues of good an evil
  • Issues of human rights

How will I be assessed?

Two exams - one exam per unit with an equal weighting.
